Oak veneer
Oak veneer, mahogany panelling, walnut veneer – these types of terms are often used in connection with antiques and modern furniture. However, vendors do not always use the terms correctly. What exactly are oak veneers?
What is oak veneer?
The veneer is a thick (width around 0.1 to 8.0 mm) wooden plate or board used mainly for finishing furniture (veneering) and plywood production. Oak veneers are made of a quality oak wood from domestic forests.
The veneers we can see on antique and newer furniture (back to the late sixties) are called veneers in technical terminology. It is the thinnest veneer with a thickness of between 0.5 and 1.00 mm. It is usually obtained from noble woods cut so that it shows the decorative features of grain. Because synthetic veneers have been used in furniture production for more than 40 years, the less correct name veneer is often a synonym to natural oak veneers.
The quality oak veneers perfectly reproduce the wood structure and are characterized by increased durability against mechanical damage and humidity. Therefore, it is the ideal material for households with small children. The door in this veneer can be used in kitchen or bathroom with no worries because they can withstand high humidity. You can also have door with ribbed veneer manufactured, which owes its interesting design to the 3D effect. A high attention is also paid to the utility value. Almost no sign of everyday use is visible on these doors. There are no fingerprints on them, which is very important, especially in households with children.
Oak veneers are a great alternative to solid wood. This will allow you to enjoy its beautiful structure and its noble look and at the same time it allows you to remove its typical defects such as whistling noise or deformations. By choosing oak veneer door, we get a great solution which looks like door from a solid wood but without deformations. Veneered furniture is very popular.
