Oak structures for pergolas
Pergola is a part of the garden equipment which organizes the garden space and after being covered by climbing plants and it also forms shade. A wooden pergola is very natural and it adds beauty to any garden. The oak pergolas are durable, strong and stable.
Pergola is a light construction and it does not require a concrete foundation. Everything you need is a special anchor that is put in the ground and then the pergola columns are placed in it. It is possible to make pergolas in summer, during the full plant blooming, with no worries that your garden will look like a battlefield for the next few weeks.
Immediately after construction, the pergola covered by plants looks like it has been there for a long time. It is made of pressure impregnated wooden elements that can be purchased in stores with garden equipment. In addition, oak constructions for pergolas are covered with a protective and colouring agent for wood (especially for cut surfaces). The light or dark brown colour is adjusted to the finishing elements of the house facade. The way the pergola is placed should depend on its size and the plants that climb it.
Small pergolas built from two to five columns which are designed for not very intensive types of climbing plants (clematis varieties, climbing rose, honeysuckles, annual climbing plants) can be mounted in anchoring needles sunk into the ground. It is very convenient because it does not require a lot of work or environmental damage – anchors can be placed between plants, leaving no traces of work.
Larger oak pergola structure with roof made of wooden beams or pergolas supporting large and fast growing climbing plants (for example fallopia, climbing hydrangea, wisteria, honeysuckle, hops or some grapevine) must be stronger. Their columns are sunk into steel anchors fixed in concrete feet (foundation blocks can be purchased).
