Oak sawdust
You can also find sawdust in our assortment. We process oak wood and the resulting waste is called sawdust. There are numerous ways how to use it. What can we do with sawdust?
Oak sawdust as fuel
Briquettes for pellets and oak sawdust have recently become very popular as a heating fuel. They can be used in similar heating installations where coal and wood are burnt. The sawdust is not glued together but it is compressed. We can also find furnaces designed only for sawdust – for example, free-standing pellet stove. Depending on how much sawdust is collected, the furnace can burn continuously for up to 24 hours – in this case you must ensure a minimal air ventilation into the furnace.
Fireplace, tile or sheet metal furnaces are most often used to heat commercial spaces like garages, warehouses or other technical rooms. We can also find loose fuel stoves used constantly – there is an automatic feeder.
Fertilizer
Oak sawdust is very often used as an organic fertilizer. Due to their decomposition, the soil acquires humus, but in order for this to happen, the microorganisms in the soil must be provided with the nitrogen necessary for the decomposition process. For this purpose, preparations with the addition of ammonium nitrate, manure, cut grass, urea or dust are poured onto the stored sawdust. When fertilizing plants with sawdust, the material of origin is very important – whether it is sawdust from coniferous or deciduous trees. In the first case, composting is not necessary, although it is recommended. Oak sawdust must be composted for at least 4 months. The finished fertilizer is used to cover the soil (10 litres per 1 m2) and then to dig. You can also use sawdust for mulching in close proximity to plants. The work is carried out in the autumn.
