Oak facade tongue-and-groove boards

Wooden facades are more and more popular. Oak facade TG boards can be installed on the whole facade or its part. If you properly protect the boards and you do not forget the ventilation, you can enjoy a beautiful house facade for many years. 

Oak TG façade boards have been used for centuries. Nowadays, facade boards are made of woody plants that are more resistant to weather conditions and biological damage caused by fungi and pests. Facade wood must have a sufficient moisture – 12-18%. As a result, it will not deform too much. Before installation, oak facade boards should be stored for several days in dry, ventilated and covered place. 

Dimensions and shape of oak facade boards 

We offer oak facade boards with various profiles. The profile thickness depends on its shape. The thinnest facade boards are the ones that overlap each other or are made with a notch (about 15 mm). The tongue and groove joint must be slightly thicker, the tongue should be at least 10 mm long. Profiles are shaped so that they form a surface on which water can flow easily. Avoid sharp edges – curved and chamfered edges are better. The facade boards are usually several centimetres wide (up to 15 cm). They should not be too wide to prevent torsion. The length of oak facade boards is adjusted to the needs of the facade. Nowadays, very popular blind profiles have slightly different dimensions than traditional boards – they are slightly thicker and much narrower. The length of boards can be up to 6 m but they are usually cut up to 4 meters. 

The boards can be arranged horizontally, vertically or at the 45 degree angle. Wood is a working material which means that it expands and shrinks under the influence of humidity. While installing facade boards you should not tighten them too much, you must keep a gap of few millimetres so that they can move a little. Between the horizontal facade chips of wood and other materials, drops of sheet metal can be used to facilitate the water outflow. Vertical joints should also be designed so that they are resistant to the wall humidity.
